The last week of the decade was a short one trading wise, as markets were closed for the second half of Tuesday and into Wednesday for the Christmas holiday.
US equity markets were in high spirits as U.S-China trade optimism continued, and major gains from Amazon helped to push the NASDAQ above 9000 for the first time ever.
European equities also creeped to new highs for the week despite light trading.
In Asia, Japanese equities remained overall unchanged and Chinese markets posted the fourth week of straight gains, driven again by optimism around the U.S-China trade deal.
